2012 another Y2K?
As I am beginning to compile information on 2012 and Mayan Prophecy… I can’t help but wonder how much of this is “legitimate” and how much is “Y2K”…
Anybody remember far back enough with me when “Y2K” was the popular buzzword and if a conversation got dull at a party all you had to do was drop your one line thought on Y2K and everybody would eagerly clamour to give theirs? Or God help you if you dropped “Y2K” into a “geek” or LAN party!!!
How many theories were circulating out there about Y2K? … How many times did I hear that we would be going back to “Ma and Pa Ingalls” days? And when Y2K rolled around… (drums please)… what happened?! Nothing…
Are we as a society simply over hyping the next big thing because we need a little excitement or drama?… We need another good “rescue topic” for a lame party? Drop “2012″ or “Mayan Prophecy” into certain circles now… not geek or LAN parties obviously (but don’t worry… they will catch on soon)… but more so into history buff and academic circles… watch the room explode with seemingly the most over qualified minds of the era on the topic of 2012!
If Mayan Prophecy is worth our attention… then what has it predicted previously that has come true? And if it hasn’t predicted anything else then on what basis has Mayan Prophecy merited so much attention?…
Just some thoughts and questions…
Ideas?

i think that 2012 is SOOOOOOOOO far beyond Y2K in the reasons to believe that something MAJOR will happen. The only question is whether or not 2012 will be the CULMINATION of events or an event right out of the blue. Like a volcano exploding or a meteor hitting in its abrupt action. I personally think that we are building UP to it….we will see heavier and heavier events take place from TODAY, and by DEC 21st, we will more or less be ready to break on through, so to speak, to the other side–our collective future here on Earth

Sean,
You make some good points. I still stress my original motive for posting that whenever you have an authentic possibility of change/transformation, people with their own factions of beliefs and theories attach themselves to the coat tails for a ride…
look at global warming… don’t get me started on what a farce that is in the first place… but that set aside: look at how many people attach their own agendas to global warming… and look at how at the core of its motive you could say that global warming is really a challenge to civilization as a whole to improve its eco-habits and model of living… if you are constantly driving someone’s attention toward the “fear factor” instead of leading them towards positive transformation then it becomes an exercise in futility plagued by chronic spiritual, emotional, and mental debt.
I wonder what we missed out of Y2K that could have genuinely brought change…
and now look at how much “fear factor” bullshit is being attached to 2012. Believe me Sean, even though I haven’t been blogging as regularly on here as my company blog… I have been spending that time expanding my consciousness and I will be the first one to say that I expect something great and hope for something powerful come 2012… but I believe for that to happen then people have to internalize the potential and manifest it into this dimension instead of waiting for something to “arrest them and force them to change”… that is lazy human nature that shirks responsibility at its best…
wouldn’t you agree?
btw… thx for being my first webtraffic comment!
let me know what you think about my other posts?
